Naltrexone is a medication that must be used as a part of an approved treatment program along with proper counseling. Self-medication is not recommended. Patients treated with Naltrexone for relapse after total abstinence from drugs and alcohol may find the dosage of opioid used previously may have fatal consequences such as respiratory arrest. - Naltrexone can cause allergic skin reactions surrounding the injection site. Contact your healthcare provider as soon as you notice abnormal skin reactions or swelling around the injection site.
